London: The pandemic shook the ranking of the most lived cities in the world, a published study on Wednesday showed Wednesday, with metropolises in Australia, Japan and New Zealand jumping in front of those in Europe.
Auckland has the annual investigation of the economist on the most lived cities in the world in 2021 followed by Osaka and Tokyo in Japan, Adelaide in Australia and Wellington, New Zealand, who had all a quick response to the pandemic COVID.
“Auckland has increased at the top of the ranking because of its successful approach to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has allowed its society to remain open and of the cities to mark strongly,” said the Intelligence Economist unit.
On the other hand, “European cities have been particularly bad at this year’s edition.”
“Vienna, before, the most habitable city in the world between 2018-2018-20 fell on the 12th. Eight of the top ten largest falls in the rankings are European cities”, according to the study.
The largest overall fall in the European cities was the port city of Hamburg in northern Germany, which dropped 34 places at 47th.
The trend was motivated by a “stress on hospital resources” that the study stated an increase in most German and French cities and resulted in a “deteriorated health score”.
The pressure on European health systems also had an impact on culture and overall life due to movement restrictions, the economist said.
The most notable increase was recorded by Honolulu, Hawaii, the United States, which went to the rankings and increased 46 places due to its containment of the pandemic and rapid vaccination program.
Damascus remains the city where life is the most difficult because of the Civil War during Syria.
