Taiwan’s Foreign Minister said on Tuesday that Beijing used air and sea training that surrounded the island to prepare for invasion and change the status quo in the Asia-Pacific region.
China launched its biggest war game around Taiwan last week in a furious response to the visit of the speaker of the US Parliament Nancy Pelosi, a high -ranking American official to visit the island that was governed in several decades.
“China has used its exercises and military manuals to prepare for the Taiwan invasion,” Joseph Wu told a press conference in Taipei.
“This is carrying out large -scale military exercises and launch of missiles, as well as cyberspace attacks, disinformation campaigns and economic coercion to weaken public morals in Taiwan.”
Top Taipei Diplomat repeated his criticism of Beijing’s exercise continued Monday even though initially said they would end the day before, noting that they had hampered one of the busiers and the busiest air in the world.
The WU press conference came after the Taiwan military held a direct shot exercise to simulate the defense of the attack on the island.
He called Beijing’s War Games a “serious violation of Taiwan’s rights” and efforts to control waters around Taiwan and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
“China’s real intention is to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait and the whole region,” he said.
Wu continued to thank the western allies for standing in China.
“This also sends a clear message to the world that democracy will not submit to the intimidation of authoritarianism,” he said.
