At least seven people were killed and dozens were injured in the explosion in the capital of Bangladesh Dhaka on Sunday with the authorities who initially suspected it was caused by a gas cylinder explosion.
“So far, we know seven people died in the explosion,” Police Commissioner Dhaka Shafiqul Islam to a newspaper in place in the Moghbazar area added that the explosion damaged seven buildings and three bus passengers.
Head of Fire Extinguisher Brigadier General Sajjad Hossain said the main evidence suggested a gas cylinder explosion caused an explosion but “we don’t know how it happens”.
“There is a gas cylinder in a restaurant on the ground floor of the building and air conditioning nearby in the showroom upstairs while there is a gas cylinder also on the construction site of the road on the scene … the investigation has been launched,” Hossain said.
The TV channel reported dozens of injured passengers, most buses and pedestrians, were treated in three hospitals where the doctor said many of them received severe burns.
According to residents in the neighborhood, the explosion shook the part of the panic deployment of the city while television recording showed a broken pillar, concrete and glass fragments scattered across the road in the middle of the capital city of the country.
“I was on the bus when the blast happened. I jumped out of the narrow window of the vehicle, initially thought the bus gas cylinder exploded … never experienced a big explosion in my life,” Tajul Islam was 50 years old, who received an injury to his waist and complained , Hearing disorders due to the explosion, told PTI.
Another witness said he saw the ball across his head and the explosion changed everything and smoked around him while the pieces of glass began to bathe from above.
“The sound was very big … it scared everyone,” he told TV channels.
According to the witnesses, immediately after the bus explosion and the car hit each other while the passengers peered panicked to get out of the vehicle.
