What’s the plot of Operation Mincemeat?
Operation Ruin was a military deception operation carried out by the Allied Forces during World War II. Its end was to disguise the 1943 Allied irruption of Sicily as simply a feint, by planting false documents and correspondence on a cadaver and faking the cadaver’s identity as a fictional Captain of the army. The cadaver along with the documents was released from a submarine near the props of Spain to be discovered by Spain and the documents were participated with the Germans, making them believe that the main target of the Abettors would be Greece. The operation proved to be successful, as indeed Adolf Hitler was deceived by the plan and did n’t give enough forced to defend Sicily while the Allied forces were liberating it.
The operation was planned and carried out by Ewen Montagu (Colin Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Matthew MacFayden).
